Doug Berchtold
Doug was most recently President and CEO of Brick Brewing Co. Limited. During Doug's tenure at Brick Brewing (2004 - 2007), he was instrumental in leading a strategic turnaround for the company, resulting in strong growth and sustained profitability.
Before that, Doug was President of Sleeman Brewery, during which time he led a financial restructuring of the company. His past experience also includes progressively senior roles at Stroh Brewery in Detroit and Ford Motor Company. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Math from the University of Dayton, and a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Graham McBride
Graham is a seasoned financial professional, with over 20 years of key industry experience. Most recently, he was the Lead manager of the VG Partners Mezzanine Team, where he successfully led VenGrowth's mezzanine debt financing practice, targeting established, cash-flow positive Canadian companies in the manufacturing and service sectors.
Prior to joining VenGrowth, Graham was the Managing Director of the mezzanine investment activities of a Schedule I Canadian Bank, and also worked at a private $300 million fund company where he originated, structured and managed subordinated debt financings. Graham has also held vital roles managing debt and capital pools on behalf of pension funds and life insurance firms. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree.
Donald S. McCreesh
With over 30 years of experience as a seasoned business executive, Donald is currently a management consultant, and President of The Garnet Group. A leader in the professional development of other directors, Donald specializes in connecting a company's strategy to all facets of the business such as leadership succession, global expansion and mergers and acquisitions.
He was previously the global head of human resources at Celestica, CIBC and Nortel. As well, Donald has held various senior governance roles in numerous not-for-profit and charitable organizations. He holds a Masters in Business Administration degree, a Chartered Director degree, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, all from McMaster University. He is also a faculty member of The Directors College at McMaster.
Leonard Simak
Leonard is a seasoned business executive with international experience and a track record of success leading start-ups, turnarounds and transforming businesses. He was most recently President and CEO of Footmaxx Holdings Inc., a public company, where he guided the company through several years of refinancing, reorganizations and strategic positioning in the market place, culminating in a sale to a US strategic buyer. Leonard is now acting as a consultant to companies requiring renovation of their sales and marketing approach, business strategy and operations.
Previously he held senior positions in the healthcare, distribution and technology industry with firms including Nestle Clinical Nutrition, The Clintec Company and Baxter Healthcare. Leonard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from University of New Brunswick.
Jake Van Ginkel
Currently, Jake is the Entrepreneur-In-Residence (E-I-R) at VG Partners. This program allows investee companies to benefit from the knowledge of “serial entrepreneurs" who have experience in growing companies to become acquisition targets.
Jake has worked with numerous CEOs and senior management of many investee companies to improve their strategy and operational execution. Jake is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and holds a B.A.S.C. (Engineering) from the University of Toronto.
